Common Support Questions
How do I verify if an app is blocked?
SilentWall monitors **Windows Security Event ID 5157**. When a blocked application attempts to connect, a native Windows toast notification will pop up. You can also audit this in Windows Event Viewer under Security logs.
Can I accidentally lock my system?
No. SilentWall features a hardcoded whitelist compiled directly into the service layer. System services (such as `svchost.exe`, `lsass.exe`, or Windows Update) are permanently protected and can never be disabled.
Why does the app require Full Trust?
SilentWall interfaces directly with the **Windows Filtering Platform (WFP)** and standard COM Firewall interfaces (`INetFwPolicy2`) to register and remove network restrictions. Windows requires Full Trust capability to safely write rules.
How do I cleanly uninstall?
Simply uninstall the app from the Windows Settings panel. Our native service listener cleans up after itself, immediately flushing every custom rule created by SilentWall during its installation.
